Medeco® High Security Locks

MAXUM® Deadbolts

When the enhanced Maxum deadbolt was tested against the toughest performance standards set for auxiliary locks by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), we at Medeco were a little embarrassed.
Although the standards are okay for basic retail locks, they're not good enough for Medeco, or the locksmiths who carry our products. And they shouldn't be good enough for you.
We've spent a quarter of a century studying the ways burglars compromise locks. We've found that their biggest enemy is time. Their chances of getting caught rise substantially with each extra minute they take to get into a home or business.
That's why we designed every inch of Maxum with specific features that resist the things thieves do to gain entry. So when they see a Medeco Lock on the door, they decide it isn't worth the risk.
For a lock this good, don't go to the corner store. Go to a security professional who's got the Medeco seal on the door. That's the only standard that really counts.

ANSI auxiliary lock standards are based on such criteria as ability to withstand impact, torque, and load. Locks were subjected to two levels of tests: Grade 1 and Grade 3, with Grade 1 being the most severe. Grade 3 standards are used to measure lesser-quality deadbolts. In independent laboratory tests, Maxum not only exceeded the Grade 1 standard in every case, but exceeded it by as much as 150% in some tests.

They kick in the door. Maxum's high security strike plate has a special box design with 2" screws that anchor the strike directly to the building structure. Maxum exceeds both Grade 1 and Grade 3.
They pry with a crowbar. Maxum's hardened steel bolt and bolt throwing mechanism are surrounded by a heavy-gauge tubular steel housing for maximum resistance to crowbar attack. Maxum exceeds Grade 1 by 7% and Grade 3 by 150%.
They wrench off the lock. Maxum's solid brass collar spins under pressure so wrenching motion doesn't work. Maxum exceeds Grade 1 by 100% and Grade 3 by 500%.
They hammer the lock. Maxum is solid brass and is secured with high-tensile steel mounting bolts for maximum resistance. Maxum exceeds Grade 1 by 150% and Grade 3 by 1150%.
The saw through the bolt. Maxum's hardened steel bolt makes it virtually impossible to saw through with a common hacksaw. Maxum exceeds both Grade 1 and Grade 3.
They drill the lock. Maxum has strategically placed steel inserts which are highly resistant to drilling. Maxum exceeds both Grade 1 and Grade 3. Cylinder meets UL Standard 437.
They copy your key. Medeco's patented Biaxial system means it is almost impossible for some to get a copy of your keys without your permission. Medeco invented key control. We are the standard. No ANSI test.
They pick the lock. Double-locking action makes Medeco locks virtually pickproof. We are the standard for high security locks. Medeco cylinders meet UL Standard 437. No ANSI test
